Project Name : NCDA&CS Caswell Agricultural Research Station
Description : The Caswell Research Station in North Carolina, established in the 1920s and now merged with the Lower Coastal Plain/Cunningham station, focuses on research in soybean, corn, wheat, and organic crop production, utilizing 150 acres for field crops and extensive plots for breeding, disease resistance, and productivity improvements. The region’s climate challenges include managing pests, weeds, and stress tolerance in crops, supported by infrastructure such as grain drying and storage facilities, irrigation systems, and research plots that enable large-scale and diverse field experiments. Its infrastructure includes 29 structures, including equipment sheds, storage buildings, and office facilities, providing essential resources for scientists conducting both conventional and organic agricultural research to benefit regional farmers and the private sector.
